DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Health Officer for a temporary six-month assignment based west of Mackay.

Accommodation is provided, and travel expenses are covered at the beginning and end of the assignment for non-local candidates.

The Position: You will be responsible for supervising a team in the delivery of compliance and enforcement of environmental health and public health regulations relating to public health, safety, community amenities and customer service. You will be assisting with the undertaking of investigations, inspections and approvals relating to public facilities, food safety, vector control, environmental nuisance and local laws matters.

REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Health;
• Sound experience within a similar position ideally within Queensland Local Government;
• Ability to interpret, apply and communicate the applicable Acts, Regulations and Local Laws;
• Experience in the management and leadership of teams;
• Well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution and communication skills;
• Experience in the collection of evidence for court proceedings;
• A current C Class drivers licence; and 
• The ability to commence at short notice.
