DESCRIPTION
The main responsibilities for the role include:
- Assist in the operations of Council's animal shelter and pounds including impounding of stock and companion animals as required.
- Issue electronic infringement notices for legislative breaches.
- Action customer service requests in accordance with approved service levels.
- Undertake animal husbandry responsibilities associated with stock and companion animals.
- Participate in the out-of-hours on call roster for stock on roads and dangerous dogs.
- Promote an understanding of and compliance with the Companion Animals Act and Regulations by providing information and support to the community.
- Advise and recommend legal action resulting from legislative breaches and prepare evidence and affidavits for legal forums, briefing legal representatives and appearing in court as required.
- Assist with general ranger duties including parking surveillance and inspection activities as required.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, documentation and promotional materials.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the following skillset and experience:
- Relevant experience preferably in a Local Government context
- Sound knowledge of statutory requirements of various Acts and Regulations relevant to the position and solid understanding and experience in risk assessment of projects, activities and tasks
- Current Class C Drivers Licence
- NSW Firearms licence (desirable)
- Microchip Implanter Accreditation (desirable)
- Ability to work weekends in accordance with rostering arrangements
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently
- Demonstrated ability to deliver quality customer service, contribute to service improvements and adapt to change
- Highly developed communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills including solid conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Demonstrated time management, planning, administrative and computer skills
